Hardbord is stronger than Masonite, but with no acids or chemicals to discolor paints. Each board is crafted of aspen wood, with very uniform fibers and neutral pH. Each board is then injected with special resins that "plasticize" the surface for greater resistance to warping and moisture. Ampersand Panels are meticulously handcrafted by master carpenters, for a superior, 1/8" thick, archival-quality board. Use Hardbord with oil or acrylic primers. It's also ideal for mounting papers, prints, photographs, and fabrics. Cradled Hardbord — Hardboard is available with a 2" deep cradle for hanging with no additional framing. Edges are sanded, so you can apply your favorite ground to create an extra dimensional painting. |
