Just insert a sharp pencil into the desired hole and slide the tool along the edge of the back of your matboard to mark the cutting lines. Matline lets you mark borders up to 8" wide in 1/16" increments, and exact 90° corners. The head of the rule can be used to mark matting from 1/8" to 3/4".
