"Yarka" is a Russian word that means bright and vibrant. These highly lightfast pastels are made with finely ground mineral and earth pigments, combined with just the right amount of kaolin and Chasov Yar clays. They offer the artist a medium-soft grade and a velvety response, and they are available in a vast array of colors. Each set is packaged in an unfinished wooden box. The full set of 185 pastels contains 130 distinct colors. The remaining 55 pastels are duplicates of the most popular colors. Individual pastel sticks measure 2-1/2" × 3/8" (64 mm × 10 mm), and can be sharpened to a point with a blade. Yarka Classpacks — Classpacks offer the same velvety soft pastel, but in a less expensive package. These sets make economical sense for those just learning to use pastels.
