Finely ground white clays are combined with medium mesh buff grog, increasing porosity and reducing cracking, shrinking, and warping. This de-aired, moist clay is recommended for raku, but can also be used to hand build and throw larger pieces without fear of slumping or cracking. Amaco No. 27 White Sculpture Raku Clay has a wide firing range from Cone 05-07 (1911° - 2232° F). At Cone 05 the bisque is white with some black specks, and the shrinkage is 9%, with a 10% absorbtion. At Cone 10, the ware is light buff with very few specks and the shrinkage is 9.2% with a 6.6% absorption. When used for raku, most unglazed areas will turn dark gray to black. Comes in a 50 lb (23 kg) carton. |
