For wheel-thrown pots, hand-built sculpture, tiles, planters, and outdoor pottery. Finely ground red and buff clays, plus a medium mesh grog, make fired pottery more porous and reduce cracking, shrinkage, warpage.

Amaco No. Terra Cotta Earthenware Clay


Terra Cotta is a mixture of finely ground red and buff clays, plus a medium mesh grog. Grog makes fired pottery more porous and reduces cracking, shrinkage, and warpage. Recommended for wheel-thrown pots and hand-built sculpture, tiles, planters, and outdoor pottery. Amaco No. 77 Terra Cotta Earthenware Clay fires from cone 06 to 5 (1915° - 2185°F.) At cone 04 the clay is terra cotta in color with a shrinkage of 6.75% and an absorption of 9%. At cone 05 the color is a rich brown-red with a shrinkage of 10.5% and an absorption of 9%. The 50 lb carton contains two 25 lb bags of moist clay.
