Russian Linen Acrylic Primed Stretched Canvas

The production history of this fine Russian Linen Canvas dates back to 1871, when the factory first prepared fine linen to the satisfaction of the Russian Masters. Each canvas is hand-crafted using the same slow, deliberate process a professional artist would use in the studio. First, the raw linen is double-coated with sturgeon glue sizing then tightly secured to stretcher bars and keyed for firmness. It is dried slowly before receiving 3 layers of acrylic primer. The stretched canvas is extremely taut and ready to paint. The extra fine grain canvas has a very smooth surface, great for portraiture. The fine grain has a medium-rough texture, and the natural slubbing is apparent. The large grain has a very pronounced, rough-textured surface, recommended for landscape painting.
