Paul Cezanne is considered one of the forerunners of modern art. Innitially associated with the Impressionists, Cezanne's representations of the natural world challenged the conventions of 19th century painting. His work laid the foundations for the art of the 20th century, paving the way for Cubism and Abstractism. This DVD analyzes the radical nature of Cezanne's painting, and examines many of his works in detail. Reconstructions of scenes from Cezanne's life as well as interviews with the artist's descendents provide a view into the family history, temperament, and lifetime preoccupations of this great artist. 56 minutes |
