Blick Acrylic Mediums

Dick Blick Acrylic Mediums are designed especially for use with Dick Blick Artist's Acrylic. With the exception of Acrylic Remover, all of these mediums are certified non-toxic. Acrylic Remover — Use for removing dried acrylic paint from brushes. This item is not certified non-toxic, and it bears the caution label of the Art & Creative Materials Institute. Acrylic Retarder — Add Acrylic Retarder to color to slow drying. Gel Medium — Gel is milky white in the jar, but dries completely transparent. Its consistency is very thick, for producing heavy impastos with a brush or knife. Add Gel Medium to acrylic colors. Gesso — Formulated for use as a foundation for acrylic and oil paints, gesso is a thick, bright white, opaque primer for canvas or board. Our gesso contains only the finest, bright white pigment for an excellent, opaque primer for acrylic and oil paintings, on canvas or board. Dries flat and flexible. Gloss Medium — Gloss Medium contains the same high quality polymer emulsion that is used as a binder for the acrylic colors. It dries crystal clear and glossy. Mix it with acrylic paint for a uniform glossy finish or a transparent glaze. Matte Medium — Adding Matte Medium to your paint will cause it to dry with a dull finish, like casein or tempera. It should not be used as a varnish. Matte Varnish — Apply Matte Varnish for a uniform, non-glare, satin finish on acrylic paintings once they are completely dry. Modeling Paste — May be used to create a textured ground for painting, for collage, for relief sculpture, etc. Modeling Paste dries opaque white, hard, and stiff. (Apply to rigid surfaces only, and in thin layers to avoid cracking.)
